Stop calling it a phase.
You have been in this phase for fifteen plus years.
Your body often recognizes the truth long before your mind is willing to admit it. The tight shoulders, forced smile, and dread you keep calling “stress” may be telling you something deeper: the life you are protecting no longer fits the man you have become. You can rationalize that discomfort, spiritualize it, or bury it beneath another round of obligations, but your body will keep responding. This isn’t weakness, failure, or a crisis of faith. It’s honest information. And when you finally stop dismissing it, you may discover that the problem isn’t who you are., the problem is the blueprint you were tricked into following.
Do you feel the low-grade dread on Sunday morning or when you get to your place of religious worship? Notice the way your shoulders tighten before you even get out of the car in the parking lot? How about the half-second pause before you force the smile on and begin shaking hands?
That's not a phase.
That's a slow-burn hell you've normalized.
And calling it 'stress' is bullshit and you know it.
"I'm just going through something." "Work has been hard." "I'll get back to where I was once things settle down."
Things have not settled down. Because this is not about your circumstances.
This is about A LIFE BUILT ON SOMEONE ELSE’S BLUEPRINT running at odds with the man who has to live inside it every single day.
The body keeps score, Not the mind.
The mind is very good at rationalization, at smoothing the dissonance over, at finding the explanation that protects the structure you’re living inside.
The body just tightens. Or it exhales. It doesn't rationalize. It responds.
And yours has been responding to something for a long time.
That’s not a phase. That’s information.
And it’s the most honest information available to you right now.
