You Need Permission to Leave.
There comes a moment when staying no longer means strength—it means abandoning yourself. This is for the man who has carried everyone else’s expectations, swallowed his own truth, and called it duty. You are not broken, selfish, or lost. You may be ready to stop performing and choose yourself.
You don't need another reason to stay.
You need permission TO LEAVE.
Not the church necessarily. Not the marriage. Not the family.
The version of yourself you have been performing inside all of it. The one who has the answers. The one who holds the line. The one who looks strong from every angle while something underneath quietly, steadily, relentlessly dissolves.
I know that man. I was that man. Two combat tours. Purple Heart. 22 years inside a chain of command that needed me solid, reliable, unshakeable.
And a church that needed me devout, certain, leading my household in the right direction.
Nobody in either of those rooms ever said: how are you actually doing?
Not the real question. Not the one that would have required a real answer.
So I gave everyone the performance they needed. And I got very, very good at it.
The day I stopped was the day the adventure actually began.
You do not have to earn permission. You do not have to wait until the guilt goes away or the fear gets smaller or the questions get answered.
You give yourself permission.
That is the whole move.
You are a powerful creator. You always were. They just needed you not to know that.
